Appalachian Trail Conservancy License Plates

Specialty license plates for the Appalachian Trail are a way to support the ATC (Appalachian Trail Conservancy) in its work to sustain the Trail into the future.

With the purchase of a specialty A.T. plate in your state, a portion of the cost of the plate is returned to the ATC for its work to manage and maintain the A.T. This program is currently available in the following states: Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

The current program in North Carolina has raised over $100,000 for the ATC’s work to conserve the Trail in N.C. Projects funded through this program include scenic easements, shelter improvements, workshops for teacher training for a Trail to Every Classroom, tools repair and maintenance, rare plant and old growth forest tracking and cataloging, and the installation of bear cables (aerial food storage systems) at ten shelter sites.

The License plate program manager at Appalachian Trail Conservancy is: Leanna Joyner (828)254-3708

Walk & Weight vest

weight vest

A new way to add resistance to your body when exercising and trying to lose weight is a weighted vest, that come from different companies. A weighted vest allows the following benefits to burn excess calories and add muscle to lose fat. A walk vest helps to condition core and strengthen abdominals and build bone density. The basic premise of the weight vest is very simple: training or exercising the body at a heavier weight than it is accustomed.

If you incorporate the weight vest into your speed, agility, conditioning routines or exercises, your gains and performance will be greatly improved. By over-loading your body while doing those exercises at an increased weight than you are accustom to, you are creating a new level of resistance and reprogramming your muscles fibers and your brain to work under this new level of resistance.

A weight vest can be used in the following sports:

  • Football
  • Baseball / Softball
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Tennis
  • Skiing
  • Track & Field
  • Boxing and
  • Swimming
The Core Fitness Training Vest allows athletes to add weight to their practice routines while simulating actual game situations. By concentrating the weight throughout the shoulders and chest, athletes can strengthen key muscle groups while increasing endurance, speed and agility at the same time. Professional and amateur athletes, both on the field and on the ice, having already added the Core Fitness Training Vest to their workout and practice sessions.
